Home alone..

Mummy left me home alone today. Unlike the usual times, she decided to take a big leap of trust and chose to leave me home alone outside my crate. Well, mummy had always wanted to do this as she felt really bad when I was crated for a long period of time. I would usually just lick my paws when I'm bored, so mummy and daddy would come back to a dog with really wet paws. Daddy, being the paranoid parent he is, wanted to try it only when he was sure that the whole house was dog-proofed (e.g. no treats that I could reach, no wires that I could destroy, blah blah blah). Luckily, Mummy has more faith in me than Daddy did and decided to give it a try while Daddy's out of town!

Thankfully, Mummy was pretty thoughtful. She removed the door of my crate, placed it at a comfortable location (so that I would at least have a safe haven to go to), removed Daddy's PS3 controllers (Just in case...), covered the transformer with a pillow and pretty much cleared the room of treats that were previously within my reach. She also left a couple of kong toys (stuffed with yummy treats) and hid a handful of treats in several hiding places within the living room to entertain me. Before she left, she made an effort to secure the puppy/child gate that serves to 'contain' me within the living room.

Boy did Mummy get a surprise when she got home. Smart little me managed to figure a way to open the gate and made my way to the main door to give Mummy a warm welcome! Hee, best of all, I did not disappoint mummy a bit and kept the living room as clean and neat as she left me with. ^_^ Of course, I was elated to see mummy home and being able to greet her at the door sure was fun. Now I finally understand what my doggy friends mean when they say they like to give their owners a warm welcome kiss when they walk through the door! Cos I did it today!

All in all, I'm really proud of meself for being able to earn Mummy's trust and be a real good boy when I'm left alone, crateless. At least now I can enjoy the night view while waiting for my loved ones to return home to me...

Like Father Like son, Like Mother Like Sammy!

I think I take after my parents...

Like father like son, I'm like daddy in terms of
- Intelligence (High IQ) -> After all, I do have my own blog and facebook
- athletic (I'm a fast dog)
- lousy stomach -> Tends to get diarrhea wayy too often. (*Nods* Yap, Daddy too. )
- can sleep anywhere, anyhow and anytime...I could even doze off sitting upright.

Interestingly, I take after mummy too!
- Sociable (High EQ) Here's a little peek of some of my friends.. (and yes, they are mostly girls. *Wink*)

Kiba, the Shiba Inu

Lucy, the poodle

Zoe, the lab mix

Dexter, the beagle, Jack Russell, Hound mix and my proud brother!

Ella, the Border collie mix

- Enjoys sleeping till noon --> this I definitely get from mummy
- Drinks alot of water, likes pee-ing in the middle of the night (Sorry mummy, I didn't mean to spill your beans)

Mummy and daddy always have a running joke about how their kids would have daddy's high IQ and mummy's high EQ, but if they are unfortunate enough, their kids might be the direct opposite (low in both). But good for them, little Sammy Loo Lim has both in the high spectrum! The bonus is, that Little Sammy also has the good looks that make me a great chick magnet - both in the canine world and in the homo sapien world.

Yeah yeah, god isn't fair. But he is to me.

Conversation between Mummy and Daddy..

Mummy and Daddy brought me for a quick walk and I was busy sniffing around.

Mummy: "Why does Sam has to sniff every single thing that he walks past? It's like he has a daily quota to meet. 'I've to sniff 5 minutes a day.'"
Daddy: "Maybe it's because he's trying to gain XP by sniffing. He wants to level up on his World of Dogcraft."

... That's what you get when you have a nerd as a dad.

My allowance Scheme..

Mummy was just chatting with a fellow dog parent at the dog parent when the lady gave her a brilliant idea (that is great for daddy and mummy, but horrid for poor little me). The lady mentioned that she has a weekly budget of USD20 for her dog. So, the activities that she does and the food/treats for her dog that she buys are limited to the budget. Mummy was really fascinated and took to the idea immediately. (Noooooo~)

As a result, poor little me has only USD50 weekly. That includes all expenses such as cab fare due to activities related to me, day care charges, things I damage (recall: Uncle Kyle's bath mat), food and treats! Sigh, that sucks. But since they are my source of food, I guess I really have no say in this. *Fading woof~*

Anyway, I've been an awesome boy for the past week and didn't spent any money from my allowance last week. (I'm saving up for a shopping spree at Petco!) The money went straight into Sammy's trust fund that could be tapped on on rainy days! Unfortunately, Mummy received a ticket for failure to comply to signs as she brought me into an area in central park that apparently prohibited dogs. The cost of the ticket? USD50! After some discussion, mummy and daddy decided to use my lifetime saving (my last week's allowance!) to pay for the ticket. Now my saving account is perpetually zero. T_T

Tough luck... grrrrrrrrrr...

Road Trip to Pennsylvania

Mummy and Daddy decided to bring me for a road trip to Philadelphia and State College over the weekend. (Okay, more like Mummy and I chose to tag along with Daddy for his worktrip!) Not exactly the most exciting of places, but I guess it wasn't too bad. Especially since there were plenty of grass patches for me to roam/pee/poop (oops) on.

The UPenn campus is actually really pretty and has a nice colonial look to it. (Mummy kept saying that it reminds her of hogwarts.) My favourite part of the campus - the tons of fat nice squirrels that caught my eye. No thanks to stupid mummy who kept pulling me back, I'm pretty sure I would have caught at least a couple! DANG it!

One of the highlights of the trip was the hotel. Thanks to well-travelled Daddy's starwoods privileges, we were upgraded into a suite at the Sheraton hotel and there were plenty of space for me to roam around! The king size bed was awesome and finally, I don't have to fight with mummy and daddy over the bed.

However, after a good search, I finally found my spot and was woofing satisfied with it!

The second hotel, Residence Inn by Marriott, at State College wasn't as charming as the first, but also had plenty of room for little me to roam around. Mummy didn't like it as the room was located on the ground floor and she was pretty worried about people breaking in! (Stupid mummy even had a nightmare about it! *Giggles*) Well, on the contrary, I really did enjoy the view of moving cars and people walking by...

State College was pretty boring but at least Mummy was smart enough to place me at a great daycare that completely worn me out! But nonetheless, the highlight of my trip was...

PETCO!
Yap, as usual, mummy bought me, the little spoilt brat, tons of great treats and toys. (Behind daddy's back of course... *Grins*)

Looking forward to my upcoming road trip. This time round, I'm visiting Washington DC!!! Yippee~

My prize...

The prize for my first win has arrived!!
It came with a really cute tee-shirt (and yes, I am definitely the show stopper) and 2 tickets for the NYC Pet Show! This fateful event last year actually fell on the very day I was really sick and thus was unable to enjoy anything. This year, I am definitely going to have the time of my life and of course, tons of treats too!

I just can't wait...

Here's the show stopper 2011 posing for a picture in his well-deserved prize! (*Proud grin*)
