Sam's swim Updates!

Hee, it's been while since I started swimming and I'm sure everyone's curious with how I'm doing. So here's a little update.

I'm still a little hesitant about getting in the water on my own. But decided to do it anyway.
PS: I'm an official monkey rescuer. Mean mummy would toss the poor monkey into the water and Sam the hero would go to his rescue.

Hero Sam getting ready to take the leap.

Jump!

Wheeee~~

BIG SPLASH!!

Swim away~

Heading over to the poor little drowning monkey.

Almost there~ Hang in there monkey!

Got him!

Bringing the poor little monkey to shore.

Horrid mummy decided to up the challenge and tossed two poor monkeys in the water.
Nooooooo~

Deliberating hard on which one to rescue.
Green or purple?!
Ahhhh...

Sigh. I decided to save the purple monkey afterall.

Bringing him to safety.

I basically spent the whole half hour trying to rescue the poor monkeys from mummy's torture. Sure was rewarding! It sure is tiring being a hero!

Oh oh oh ..did you realize something huge? I'm life jacket FREE! Yapz, my water confidence has grown (probably more like my parents' confidence in me) and I am able to swim freely without relying on a floatation device.

Well done, Sammy Loo!
*Huge grinz*

Day at Prospect Park...

Mummy and Daddy brought me to the Food Truck Rally at Prospect Park last month.

Initially I thought I would get tons of yummy food since it was after all a food truck rally. However, despite tons of begging with my cute little paws, I got barely anything!!
Boo~

Just when I thought it was a waste of my time being dragged along for a food truck rally WITHOUT being given much food, we chanced upon the Long Meadow Dog Beach at Prospect Park.

And the fun begins~~~

Fearlessly decided to swim to the edge of the fence...

But realised that the water is a tad bit too deep and decided to turn back..

Almost there...

Phew~ finally back on shore..

Decided to venture a little more, made a new friend and did tons of sniffing.

After a good round of sniffing and waddling, it was time to go home. (BOO~)
So I decided to do a magnificent leap out of the dog beach.

I was a pretty happy wet dog by the end of the 'swim'.

Guess my day out at prospect park turned out pretty well after all!

Happy Halloween...

Presenting my Halloween Costume~

Knowing that I'm not a fan of wearing clothes (tho I've tons of it -_-), Mummy decided to get me a dog rider costume instead. Unlike a full 'dress' costume that would restrict my movement, this barely feels anything and is really light. I could still run around the house without any restrictions. Plus, I think I look really cute. =P

Trick or Treat?

Where's my treat?!

Happy halloween in advance~~

My Fresh Patch Experiment...

I'm potty trained.. indoors. Which means, I do my little businesses (big & small) at specific areas in the apartment. Mummy lays little pee pads on both bathroom floors and that's where I know I'm supposed to go. Every time after I go, I would 'announce' my achievement to my parents by jumping in front of them and wagging my tail. Mummy would then toss the pee pad that I went on before giving me a treat. After doing the math, my parents realized that per pee pad would cost them 20 cents. Not a lot, but it does add up.

Upon some research, mummy discovered a clever product called Fresh Patch. Fresh Patch is a disposable dog potty that is made of real grass. It's odor free and the urine gets absorbed easily. After a week or two of usage, it can simply be tossed away and a new patch can be ordered and delivered. Sounds cool? Hence, when mummy saw an offer on Fab.com, she decided to give it a try.

The patches are shipped out every monday and depending on which state you are in, the patches will arrive within a week. We got ours on a thursday.

Introducing fresh patch!

Just claiming what belongs to me.
It's Mine, mine, MINE!

It really smells like fresh grass.
(Maybe not that fresh since it has been in transit for 4 days.)

I was a tad bit apprehensive about the grass.

Sniffing to make sure it's safe.

After some encouragement for mummy, I decided to step in.

"Are you sure it's okay?"

Still a little unsure.

"So this is really mine?"

Mummy: "Yes."
Okie, I accept.

Sounds exciting?
Mummy was pretty excited and was hoping that this would replace the pee pads and reduce some cost.

Well... unfortunately, reality hurts. Not only did I not go on the fresh patch a single time, I started eating the grass. (LOL) So, after two weeks of experimentation, mummy decided that it was a failed attempt and decided to toss the patch away.

Damn..there goes my afternoon snack.
Boo~
Guess we are back to my 20 cents pee pads~

Sam the pendant..

Mummy got a custom pet portrait (Original Watercolor hand painted) necklace pendant made on etsy. While the final product is on the way in the mail, the artist sent us a preview photo.

Ain't I just cute beyond words?

Judging from mummy's smile, I guess she agrees and she's absolutely loving it!

Family day out...

My family spent the weekend at Washington DC. The original itinerary was to join the Cesar Milan Pack Walk, but since my brilliant parents overslept, we decided to head to an outdoor flea market instead (Officially Mummy's newest hobby).

We headed to Eastern Market  to spend our lovely saturday afternoon.

It was really nice out, but the sun was a tad bit bright that I couldn't stop squinting my little eyes.

We did some shopping at the Capitol Hill Flea Market.
(Hee, surprisingly shopaholic mummy left empty handed while stingy thrifty daddy bought a couple of cigar boxes.)

Mummy's failed attempt at an artistic shot.

Just chilling out while daddy was shopping for his stuff.

Met some new friends.
Hee, I'm generally a submissive dog and would roll over for most dogs. The owner of the other dog was so impressed with me that he commented that I was a really good dog and that the world needs more dogs like me! *GRINZ*
From the corner of my eye, I could see mummy scoffing away though.
Sigh~ The amount of faith my parents have in me. T_T

Yes, we sniff butts. That's how we greet each other.

Did some people watching
while we waited for an outdoor table for lunch.

I got bored and started staring into space.

Lunch was at Boxcar Tavern. As dogs are not permitted indoors, we waited for an hour as it took a while for the outdoor table to free up.

Mummy got bored and decided to join me on the curb to people watch.

Decided to give a shocked expression while taking a photo with mummy. Hee..

When we finally got seated, I was exhausted and happily made myself comfortable in the shade under the table.

Of course, I did my usual attempt to beg for food,

but I was so tired that I fell asleep while trying.

After lunch, my lazy parents caught my zzz bug and decided to head back to the hotel for nice long afternoon nap (but hey~ I'm not complaining.). The 3 of us pretty much slept the rest of the afternoon away before going for a nice evening stroll and ordering room service to end off the day. All in all, it was a nice and relaxing family day out for us. Not a bad way to spend my last day in DC (yap, we ain't going back anymore) and daddy's birthday!
