Pet-friendly: Everything with Fries

If you're a long time reader cum fan of *ahem* yours truly, you would've noticed that since Pecan ah ma joined our family we have ceased our pet-friendly cafe outings.
#thickskinsam #scarlygotnolongtimereaderstheninoface #donttellme
It is because Pecan has a bit of a barrier frustration.
Which means she has the tendency to react by barking and lunging when she is unable to interact with the object of interest (be it another dog or human). This happens especially when she is on leash.
Hence, alfresco dining where dogs will be tied to the table (as opposed to a pet cafe where we will be off-leashed) ain't exactly suitable for dogs like her.
#sotroublesomecan

We've been working on her barrier frustration and are really pleased with her progress.
#shegotbetterbutigotworse #shemusthavespreadittome
Despite that, Mummy is still rather hesitant to bring us to pet-friendly cafes...
That was until they walked passed... Everything with Fries at Holland Village.
Daddy is a sucker for fries and the dessert menu caught sweet-toothed Mummy's eyes.
Our parents just had to stop and give it a shot.

Since this was totally impromptu, Mummy had to resort to using her iPhone for photo-taking.
Thankfully, it didn't turn out too bad!
#iphonewonders
We managed to beat the crowd and were given a nice outdoor table.
The layout is really open and welcoming!
The menu is also very interesting and as its name suggest, all mains were served with fries.
#friesoverdoselor #howcomenofriesfordogsone
As this wasn't planned in advance, Mummy didn't come prepared.
(She would usually pack our water bottle, a bowl and tons and tons of treats.)
As a result, she ended up having to request for water for us.
The awesome waitstaff actually improvised and used a takeout box for us.
Needless to say, Mummy was quite impressed.
So were we.
#sothoughtfulcan #ourthankyoufaces
The food looked really delicious and we didn't have to wait long.
(Mussels and fries, Ma Ling Luncheon Chips, Miso Baked King Salmon, Mega Milo Dinosaur, Lemon Soda)
To be honest, our parents found the food a tad salty.
#oldpeopleislikethatone #lowtoleranceofsalt
But the dessert was to die for.
I swore Mummy was grinning ear to ear after having the Chilled Pandan Souffle.
#whyshenogivemesome #mummysucks #itsnotreallyasouffle
And we were pretty hopeful that we would be rewarded with yummy bites for putting on our best behaviour.
#asiflor
Of course that didn't happen.
#unhappysam #bueysongface
Guess Pecan was still remaining hopeful.
#simpleminded
Mummy managed to handle Pecan's frustration by tucking her under the table away for the passing crowd.
Hence, ah ma didn't even realise when dogs stroll by.
On top of that, we did stop by Pets' Station prior to dinner to stock up on some treats to keep us busy and happy.
Service was quick and efficient and our terrible parents we finished dinner in less than an hour.
#starvingdogs #theyeatwenoeat #lifenofair

With the success of this dinner, I'm confident that Mummy will be getting more adventurous in the near future.
Hopefully Pecan ah ma can keep it up.
#Jiayouahma

If you're looking for pet-friendly dining, no harm giving this place a shot!

Quickie Art and Craft

Jack Russell Mania (JRM) is turning 13 this July.
#cannotbelievegotthingsolderthantheancientpecan
To get us ready for the exciting celebrations, Mummy ordered two JRM bandanas just for us.
#ithinkiwearitbetterthanher #shhhhhdonttellherIsaidthat
Okay okay, I think we both look pretty cool in it.
However, once we take it off, we won't able to differentiate which belong to who.
#ifIwearwronghow #hersissmellyleh #cosshesuredroolonit
So, we attempted to mark our own bandanas with our own saliva.
#spotourlittletongues #howhygienichor
Thankfully the crafty (pun intended) Mummy had something up her sleeves.
It was a real quick fix.
All she used were Martha Stewart stencils, satin paint, a sponge brush and a plastic container.
And viola~ our very own customised bandanas.
Not only does it look (and smell) good, it took Mummy less than five minutes.
#quickieartandcraft
Doing an arty farty shot with them.
#showingoff #cannotissit
Now people will know who we are when we attend the upcoming celebrations.
We sure can't wait!
If you're a JRT just like us, do join us for JRM's 13th birthday!

Pet IC for dogs

By a huge stroke of luck, I completed my second paying gig (hehehe..secret for now) yesterday!
To celebrate my fat little paycheck (or so I think, Daddy let out a pffft when he saw it though), I decided to buy the freeloader Pecan ah ma a round of drinks.
#gotmoneygotsay #daddycannotlookdownonmeanymore #samthebreadwinner
And of course, nothing beats a nice cold beer with some dog-friendly green lipped mussels from K9 Natural in this awful weather.
#enjoyinglife #celebrationsmustwearhatone #elsenootherchancetowearthem
So we did have a little more to drink...
and possibly got a little tipsy and probably a little noisy.
#notdrunkjusthigh
I guess we did disturb the people, erm, I mean person around us a little.
#whoelsebutgrumpydaddy #oopsydaisy #whoaskhimsleepintheroomneverclosedoor #notreallyourfaultleh
Not only did he give us a huge disapproving look, he started chiding us for underage drinking.
#guiltylook
But hey, wait a minute.
We ain't actually underage!
I mean Pecan is after all a granny and me, I'm a handsome mature dude.
To prove Daddy wrong, Mummy decided to whip out proof in the purest form - our Identify Cards.
Yap, you heard it right.
Our very own Pet IC.
Look clearly Daddy, we are both EXTREMELY legal.
Me is born in 2010. That makes me 5 this year. And using a dog age calculator, I am officially 36 years old.
#ohmanIamasoldasdaddy #maybeishouldstartcallinghimbroinstead
As for Pecan....
#icannotbeartosee
She is actually 64 years old now.
#ohmasheisolderthangrandmummy #shereallyisancient
I guess we can't really use human years as a gauge as by the time I am 21, I'm quite sure I will be six feet under.
#dontarguewithme
Anyway, the Pet IC is really pretty cool.
Not only does it display our full names, it also includes breed and gender!
#notheydidnotspellterrierwrongly #mummywantedustobejackrussellterror
It even indicates country of birth!
#techinicallyiwasborninUSA #meisfakesingaporean #cannotissit
The added touch of including pawprint was a huge bonus as well!
Our identification number comes in the form of Mummy's mobile number while the address is where we're staying now. (Duh)
This way, if we got lost, people who find us can contact Mummy or even bring us home directly if they are feeling extremely kind that day.
How clever.
We opted for the dog tag version as we wanted it to be easy to bring out.
(Other options include magnets or keychains)
In our opinion, the tag is a tad big for us.
Thankfully, it is extremely light and doesn't seem to bother us at all.
That being said, it probably would fit a harness much better.
The tag ring provided was also a little large, thus Mummy had to use a ring from our other tags as a substitute.
While the material is waterproof, the IC is a little fragile and flimsy, so I would definitely recommend taking good care of it. (E.g. removing it when your dog is at the dog park rough-housing)
Despite that, we are totally digging our new ICs.
This way, no one is gonna ask us how old we are or what are we anymore!
So brillant la.
Now that we've proven our age,
Round Two anybody?
Daddy?
PS: Thank you Uncle Ryan from My Pet IC for sending us our very own ICs. Now we feel like true blue Singaporeans. Maybe we can have our very own passports next time? hehehehehhe

Paw Pet-radise is BACK!!

Our little fragile hearts died a little the day we learnt that Paw Pet-radise was closing.
Afterall, it was one of the first few pet cafes I went to.
In fact, it took Pecan's virginity (of pet cafe visits la) too lor.
#okaythatsoundsgross #tryingtobedramamama
We probably cramped in like... three visits in it's last month of operation.
#machiamendoftheworldlor

But but but....
You know what.... apparently, Mummy told us that Paw Pet-radise has reopened!
WHEEEEEEEEEE!
#wrigglydance

We couldn't wait to get our little paws there!
#sokiasuthatwewentduringthesoftopeningweek
Although it is still located at it's original location (at Balestier), it got a little facelift!
The most noticeable difference, is the introduction of a solid partition at the entrance.
Say bye-bye to the flimsy gate!
No more greeting the new dog via a fence.
#yespecanwearelookingatyou
Not to mention that this is certainly more secured.
Gone are the large sofas as well!
With that outta way, there is more space for the dogs to wrestle and play.
Our parents did comment that the new furniture isn't as comfortable though.
But seriously, like we care lor.
#wearemoreimportantthanyourbackside #wehappycanliao #deaddogalert
There is also a new retail corner!
So, no worries if your parents forget to pack along your treats, just head down and pick your heart out.
#toobadmummycamepreparedtoday #boohoohoo
The most exciting change for Mummy has to be the new menu!
In fact, it was a thorough revamp.
No more western flair and instead, say hello to Asians Cuisines.
#icannoteatsoidontreallycare
(Thai Milk Tea - which Mummy loved as it wasn't overly sweet, Cheese Fries and Japanese Fried Chicken)

The reason my parents ended up with three mains was because Daddy is a *cough* loser *cough*.
He ordered the Soup Ramyun without realising that it was spicy.
As a result, poor Mummy had to finish two mains herself, while Daddy got a replacement Bento set.
#loserman #howcanhecallhimselfasingaporeanwhenhedoesnoteatspicyfood
But hor, judging from Mummy's face, I doubt she was complaining.
I was pretty sure that they took back three empty bowls when clearing the table.
(Soupy Ramyun with Cheese, Beef Bibimbap and Terriyaki Chicken Bento)

Unfortunately for our little starving tummies, the pet food wasn't ready that day.
#suayislikethatone
Anyway, Paw Pet-radise will be serving delicious dog grub by the Superdog Kitchen.
Now we just need to convince Mummy to bring us down again.

Source: Paw Pet-radise Cafe Facebook Page

On top of the new look, we love how the sense of familiarity remains.
#feelslikehomelor
Best of both worlds indeed.
Three cheers to the new Paw Pet-radise Cafe.
And without a doubt, I'm pretty sure we will be back here rather regularly.
HEHEHEHEHE
#nocomplaints

Mummy's note: Thumbs up for finally having a pet cafe that serves asian food! The beef bibimbap and soupy ramyun were really delicious. Even though my stomach was close to exploding, I actually finished both dishes. On the hand, Mr Lim found that the Terriyaki Chicken was a tad salty. We did feedback to the owner and on our second visit back since it reopened, he noticed that the saltiness no longer bothered him. (Yap, we have been there twice since it reopened. =P) The pricing has also gone up a little due the cost of ingredients. But seriously, with food this yummy, the price increase is hardly a deterence!

Dog-friendly staycation at the Regent

So I admit.
I've been experiencing some sort of a writer's block.
That clearly explains the lack of post in the recent weeks.
#dontgiveuponme #thewriterinmeneedsabreakla
To help me recharge and re-gather my creative juices, our parents decided to check us into a dog-friendly hotel for a short getaway.
Wheeeeeee.....
This time... they chose The Regent Singapore for our dog-friendly staycation!
The Regent Singapore allows up to two dogs per room, with a combined weight of not exceeding 35kg 15kg.
(APOLOGIES: We initially thought that it was 35kg as that was mentioned to us by the staff whom we spoke to over the phone. The kind people from Regent's PR team dropped us an email to clarify that the weight limit is actually 15kg instead. Sorry about that!)
#blurmummy #mybad

Oh oh, best part of all, there isn't any additional charges for having a pet (as cute as me) in the room.
#daddy'spocketissmiling
Check-in was easy breezy. The only difference was that we had to fill up a pet policy form.
To make things even easier, we provided our ICs.
#soprohor #theguydidntevenlookatitlor #yalaweareboliao
Hehehe...
Pretty cool huh? More on that in another post!
To ensure that we had ample space to get around, Mummy insisted that we got a suite.
#mummyisdabest #daddynohappyalsonochoice
Though we didn't get an upgrade like we did during our Conrad stay, we did enjoy the extra living room for us to stretch our paws.
#wemaybesmallbutweneedspacehor
We were in love with the huge-ass king-sized bed.
#wehavetosqueezeonaqueenbedwithourparentsathomelor #ourtragiclittlelives
The bed was a little high for us to get up and down, so clever Mummy pushed an ottoman beside it.
Aiya, the truth was, she was so tired of constantly having to pick Pecan ah ma up.
#lazypeopleareusuallyprettysmarttoo
We were given a door tag to inform others that the terrors we were in the room.
Oh, in case you're wondering, of course Mummy took the tag home for keepsake.
#typicalsingaporean
Besides the tag, the hotel also provided us with a dog bed (in the form of a cushy pillow) and a dog bowl.
As dogs that sleep on our parents' bed, we were clearly not impressed with the pillow.
But oh well, it was the thought that count!
We found our work corner and pretended to start work.
"Oi, don't disturb us can?"
The room came with a little balcony, but it seemed a bit dusty, so Mummy decided to keep us in.
#iwanttogoout
It was good for bird watching though as several Mynas came by to say hi.
Pecan ah ma actually attempted to dash at one of them.
Needless to say, she has a bump on her head.
HEHEHEHEHEHEHE
#howstupidcanyouget
We got pretty comfy and took to the hotel room also immediately.
Yap, even the bathtub.
Mummy was so happy when she learnt that the toiletries were all from L'Occitane.
#typicalsingaporeanAGAIN
Heng she wasn't that auntie to pack those back.
#dontxiasuayushor
All work and play makes Sammy and Pecan boring dogs.
Therefore, Mummy decided to make sure we had fun too, in the form of hide-and-seek!
Hehehe...
#findusifyoucan
The closet was a giveaway la.
But this was... brilliant.
#sheisnotgonnafindmehere #whyisosmart
I was doing so well, until Pecan ah ma decided to join me.
Gosh, she can't hide for her life man.
-_-
Like most other pet-friendly hotels, we were allowed at the lobby and elevators (leashed of course).
The staff were really friendly and we got tons of tummy rubs and pats from them!
#howtoresistus #toocuteislikethatone
Another reason why we really enjoy our staycations is that hotel guests (usually foreigners) are often more than happy to see us. So we were greeted with endless smiles during our walks.
This is a far cry from our neighbourhood where we were usually shunned like the plague.
So sad, but so true.
Oh well.

Mummy did like that there were many grassy areas around the vicinity for us to settle our businesses.
Plus, the fact that it's a stone throw from Orchard Road meant that their meals were easily settled.
We did attempt to conquer Orchard Road but our parents gave up, no thanks to the heat and crowd.
Instead, we spent our afternoons at the nearby Botanic Gardens just chilling.
Not a bad trade-off I would say.
#ipeedatalmosteverytreethere #pecanahmabarkedatalmosteverydogthere #lifeaccomplishments
In addition, Dempsey Road isn't that far off and there are several pet-friendly establishments for meals too.
All in all, it was a pretty awesome vacay and guess what, my creative juices are back and flowing!
So stay tuned for more posts!
Okay okay, will try to be more regular too.
