Moving on...

As much as we missed our little tripod, life still has to go on.

Made with Love: Chicken and Brocoli Soup

We're quite sure Mummy caught the cooking fever.

She decided to put her limited cooking skills to another challenge by making...

Trick or Treat?

Halloween is right around the corner and we're looking forward to our party!
In the meantime, Mummy's been cracking her brain on how to dress us up for the celebrations.
#asusualsheissolastminute
She whipped out Mr Pumpkin man - the one and only costume that we've been donning for the past 1 2 3 4 5 6 years - for a test shot.
#soboringla #everyoneinthewholeworldhasalreadyseenuswearingthis
This is seriously overused.
We need something refreshing!

DIY time: Dog-friendly Peanut Butter!

Mummy has wayyyy too much time on her hands these days.
So, she decided to DIY more items for us!

Made with Love: DIY Dog Toothpaste

Mummy is very particular about our day-to-day hygiene and health.
One thing that she takes pride in, is how she manages to brush our pearly whites.
Not just that.
She does it EVERYDAY. Religiously.
#sheprobablywishesthatwecanbrushitourselves #sorrywedonothaveopposablethumbs
PS: Ah ma got stinky breath, so I sit far far away.

Sam's Pick - Ewegurt

Mummy loves me to the moon and back and would never push me away no matter what I do.
Well, almost.
There is just one tiny little thing that will send her running away (and also pretty much empty the room in seconds) - my fart bombs.
#yapIamsamthefartingmachine #myfartsarepotent #sorrynotsorry
So when Uncle ZK from Platinum Pets dropped us a message to find out if we were keen to give Ewegurt a shot, Mummy jumped at it without any hesitation.

Happy 12th Birthday Ah ma!

September 14 2015 was a special day.
It was the day that the ancient one (aka Pecan ah ma) turned TWELVE.
#omg #whatahugenumber #icanonlycounttoten
As usual, birthdays in the Loo Lim Household are a big thing. Well, kinda, only if you're the beloved furkids. The parents get zilch celebration.

So, it was party mood all week!
Woohoo~

Sam's Pick: Animology

The kind people at Pet Lovers Centre dropped us an email to ask if we were keen to review their products.
You know we'll never say no.
#cheapomummy #neversaynotofree #daddypockethappy

This time, we tried our paws on one of PLC's exclusive products -  the Animology Shampoo.
All the way from the UK, it is an multi award winning brand that is trusted by groomers and animal care professionals around the world!
Mummy is a sucker for branding. So she was sold the instant she saw the packaging.
#canbemoreshallowanot
Besides that, there is a wide range of products for dogs of all sizes, skin and coat types.
We were so spoilt for choice that Mummy took so long to decide which two products to test out.
#indecisivewoman

After like FOREVER, she decided to give the White Wash Shampoo a shot.
It is specially concocted for white dogs and has been developed using a low foam formula that makes it quick and easy to rinse while reducing the chances of any irritation.
It also comes with a built-in conditioner, which means that lazy mummy didn't have to rinse us twice.
Needless to say, that made her rather happy.
#canlazyuntillikethatialsodontknowwhattosay
#welookhideousintheshowercapsman #willsmilefortreats #ihatemylife
True enough, the shampoo is really gentle and we didn't mind when Mummy used it to scrub our faces.
#samhatesbath
It really rinses off easily and within minutes, we were done.
#samHATESbath
Mummy also took this chance to try out the new shower robes she bought for us at the JRM auction.
#ahmatryingtoactsexy #ilooklikeadumpling
Don't we just look so sparkling white?
On one hand, Mummy felt that the scent wasn't strong enough. (By the next day, there were barely any traces of the scent.)
However, she did feel that we might be more comfortable with the lack of an overpowering scent.
Afterall, we really ain't fond of smelling like a walking flower.
So, if you're looking for a mild smelling shampoo, this is certainly a must try.
We also had the best opportunity to put the stain removal function of the shampoo to test.
My recent gig (heheheh...will reveal more in a future post) required me to put on some makeup.
However, the first time it happened, it took us three thorough washes to rid it completely.
So, Mummy wanted to see how efficient the White Wash shampoo would be.
And O.M.G...after just one wash....
I was as good as new.
#mummywassuperhappyla #shegrinsowideuntilshelooklikejokerlor
#okayiexaggerate
Test Passed (with flying colours too man).
Of course, if your dogs, like us, love to rub on god-knows-what to smell funky, there's always a nourishing spray to help musk the scent.
#menohappycosirathersmellsmelly #pecannocareasusual
Mummy chose the Dogs Life Nourishing Spray as she wanted to give us a clean and fresh look.
Like the shampoo, she did feel that the scent didn't linger as long as others we've tried, but she really liked how light and easy it is to use.
In addition, it was able to musk whatever stinky smell we picked up.
#foiledourplan #wewilltryharder
So, if you're looking for a line of mild-smelling and effective grooming products, why not give Animology a shot?

Keeping us busy

We know how pesky Jack Russells can be.
#wearenotcalledjackrussellterrorsfornothing
It is a constant fight for Mummy to keep us out of trouble.
Despite weekly swims and multiple walks daily, we do still give Mummy dirty looks to express our boredom once in a while.
#entertainusorelse #thedeathstare #yeswearejudgingyou
That being said, combating our boredom is no easy feat.
In fact, it's a major headache for Mummy.
Pecan and I are polar opposite.
I am really smart. And I mean REALLY smart.
WAHHAHAHAHAH
#whosaysselfpraiseisnopraise #itisthehighestofpraisesk
Give me a treat toy and I can figure it out in seconds.
#worsecometoworsejustusebrutestrengthlor #nothingmyjawscannotdefeat

On the other hand, Pecan ah ma is...let's just say slow.
#stupidisstupidla
Unlike me, she doesn't have the intellect (I mean) patience to overcome treat toys.
So while most toys work for me, they don't do the same for her.
Toys that work for her, are like a yawn for me man.

Hence, it is a challenge for Mummy to find toys that can keep both of us occupied.
But Mummy being Mummy (someone who is extremely obsessed with dog stuff) rose to the occasion and found these amazing toys to keep our naughty paws and noses out of trouble.
And here they are!!!
#thisisjustlikefivepercentofdogthingsinourhouse
Let's start with the..
Although it is designed as a modern interactive feeder for dogs who love to gulp down their food, it works equally well as a treat toy.
Mummy will randomly sprinkle some treats on it and leave us to work on it.
The Northmate Green is meant for dogs while the purple one is for cats.
The main difference (besides the colour, like duh~) is that the tuft of 'grass' for the feline bowl is higher and sharper.
Hence, there is an increase in the level of difficulty for the purple bowl.
No prizes for guessing who gets the harder one.
#bringiton #isosmartitsnotaproblemlor
While googling the product, Mummy did read reviews about how the dog's eye may be injured by the tuft. But so far, that isn't a concern for us.
After all, we do have rather long snouts and we're relatively careful around it.
But if you do have a short snout or over-excited pooch, supervision might be a good idea.

Up next...
Our Petprojekt Toys!
(We've the Holobal, the Holobal Football and the Holobon)
Made from 100 percent natural rubber, this is a surprisingly durable toy for its design.
Mummy started by purchasing only one as she was concerned about the ridges breaking under the pressure of our jaws.
But so far so good.
#survivedtheSmonster

Okay, this toy is a little hit-and-miss for Pecan ah ma.
There are days that she goes ga-ga over it. And there are days (like in this video) that she wouldn't give a hoot about it.
We did notice a decrease in her interest after she became toothless. Guess her jaw grip is weaker now.
#notsogoodforbogaydogs #menocomplain #guesswhogotthetreatsintheend #winwinforsam
Pecan on a good day.
#whosaysshecannot #sheiscanonelor
This is the...
Our trainer, Auntie Kristina, introduced the Snuffelmat to Mummy.
This really cool rug is made of fleece strips that are weaved together.
All you have to do is to hide treats between the strips and let your furkid do the rest of the work.
We would have to use our noses to sniff and hunt down the bites.
#thesniffgame #puttingournosestowork
Mummy absolutely love the sound of our sniffing noses when we work on this.
#yapsheisthatweird
Definitely a toy that keeps our noses and brains stimulated!
#wearejudgingyourlousyphotographyskills #wehatetowait
It's like a merry-go-round.
In order to get to our treats, we have to chase them through the maze to the end where the gap is wide enough for us to scoop up the bites.
#rawrrrrrrr #roundandroundandroundwego
The Kyjen slow feeders actually come in various designs and sizes, but Mummy settled for the coral design for one simple reason - the colour.
#yapsheisthatshallow

And our favourite of the lot... (it's Mummy's personal fav too) is the..
This was also recommended to us by Auntie Kristina.
It's a pretty straightforward toy - just stuff treats in and let your pooch do the rest.
This is extremely perfect for the lazy stupid ah ma and the smart little Sammy.
Although it can be rather challenging, the fact that she was able to see and taste the treat (little by little) allows her to keep going on.
#goodforstupiddogslikeahma #goodforcleverdogslikeme
Best part of this toy is that it's prefect for freezing!
Simply stick in some enticing treats (chicken and pork meat do wonders), pour some yoghurt over it and stick them into the freezer.
And voila~
It's an awesome way to keep us busy for a good hour or so.
#thiskeepsmummysane
The only down side... yoghurt beard.
But hey, who cares.
#pecanrockingthedishevelledlook #yoghurtbeardmakememanlyhor
Oh oh..and the most important reason why Mummy is as obsessed with all these toys as we are...
Yap, they are ALL dishwasher safe!
#lazymummy
Except the snuffelmat of course.. but guess what, that is machine washable!

Woof-A-Thon on 12 April 2015!

We're very honoured to be invited to participate in Woof-a-thon, the first pet walkathon organised by Singapore Heart Foundation!
When: Sunday, 12 April 2015
Time: 4pm to 7pm
Where: Bishan Park, Grand Lawn 1 (Opposite Dog Run Area)

We all know exercising is great for our health. So why not make it fun by doing it with our pets.
This is exactly what this event is about!
Woof-a-thon aims to advocate the cardiovascular benefits associated with walking, a low-impact physical activity which pet owners are more inclined to partake.
#suddenlysoknowledgeable #seeiamsmartone #ionlypretendtobestupid #pecanisreallystupid #itakefrompressreleaseonela

Although registration for the Buddy walk has closed for pet owners, participants without pets are still welcome to join in the walk for free!
No worries if you've pets (and have missed the opportunity to register), there are many other exciting things happening on the spot as well.
Needless to say, we are really looking forward to a nice day out with our parents.
Pecan ah ma can't wait to show off her cool sneakers.
#hengshenotwearingjimmychoos
As for me....
I'm stuck with these disgusting lamb booties.
I know it's the year of the lamb, but it doesn't mean that I've to be in lamb costume day in day out.
#mummyhasbadfashionsense
#mylifesucks
#samisnotimpressed

Guess I probably should spend the week convincing Mummy that these ugly shoes ain't such a good idea.
Anyway, don't forget to put on your walking shoes and catch us there!
We'll be waiting!

Grooming Workshop @ Bubbly Petz

As JRTs are relatively low-maintanence dogs, our parents would send Pecan ah ma and myself to the groomer's only once every three to four months.
Despite that, we do require a bit of home-grooming every now and then to look somewhat decent.
And as expected, the person who does it is none other than Mummy!
#atthemercyofmummy #whyshecutmyhairuntilsougly
As adorable as we may seem, we ain't the easiest dogs to self-groom.
On average, it takes Mummy about a good hour to trim our nails and brush our coats. Of course, all these take place with a fair amount of struggle and one too many treats to bribe us.
#notreatsnogroom

Thus, when Mummy found out about Bubbly Petz' grooming workshop, she decided to give it a try to see if she can learn to better manage us.
Since, two related persons are allowed to accompany one dog per registration slot, Mummy dragged Daddy along.
As I'm the better behaved one of the two (well, at least I would like to think so), I was sent as the guinea pig representative of the Loo Lim Dogs.

Entering the class...
Located at Joo chiat, it was a tad far from westsiders like ourselves, but oh well, I guess good things are worth the distance.
Besides providing us with a detailed set of notes, each participant was also given a cute apron!
The apron proved really useful when grooming dogs like Sammy Loo.
Let's just say that i shed BUCKETS.
There was also a set of grooming tools that were provided for use in class only.
Mummy liked the items so much that she topped up extra to bring home an exact kit.
While most of the workshop involves hands-on practice, there was a little bit of theory for pet parents to learn.
Paying attention to what the instructor, Uncle Desmond has to say.
#studioussam
The workshop spans over two weeks and covers a variety of topics.
Here are three aspects that Mummy found most useful:

1. Nail Trimming
Hehe, I wasn't exactly very cooperative and it took two lousy people to cut my nails.
Uncle Desmond was really good with me though. Once he positioned me, he was able to clip my nails in mere seconds.
#igivehimfacek
Can't say the same for parents though. They took a while to figure it out and with Uncle Desmond's guidance, they finally managed to do so.
#samtherebel
While I obviously didn't enjoy getting my nails cut, I quite enjoyed the filing process.
"Please file them pretty Daddy."
#samisenjoyingadaddymanicure

2. Ear Cleaning
Previously, when lazy mummy cleaned our ears, all she did was to pour the cleanser in our ears and let us shake it off.
It was at the workshop that she realised that there is an actual technique to clean it.
#lousymummyanyhowdoone

3. Using the clipper
"What is Daddy doing!? I can't tell!!"
My parents also learnt to use the clipper to trim away excess hair on my pawpads to prevent me from slipping.
Mummy used to do this with just scissors and obviously it wasn't as ideal as she would like.
This part was a little scary.
I mean Daddy started running the clipper down my body and making weird motor sounds, before grinning at himself. He kept asking Mummy if he can give me a back mohawk.
Thank goodness Mummy glared at him.
Phew~ can't image how shitty I would look.
#daddyisaclosetpsycho #boyswillalwaysbeboys
They also learnt how to trim my butt hair and hygiene areas.
Now, I no longer have hair guiding my pee.
Boohoo~
Oh oh, Rusty and Grandma came along too!
Unlike myself, Rusty was a darling throughout the workshop. He simply stood there and allowed the adults do anything they wanted.
#spoilmarket
Le sigh~
I certainly wasn't pleased to be the model of amateur groomers like my parents.
But thankfully, they gave me plenty of treats for my hard work and tolerance.
#nexttimethiskindashitpleasebringpecanahma
Although Mummy had some knowledge of grooming dogs to begin with, it was through this workshop that she realised that she was doing certain things wrong.
For one, she now knows the trick in restraining me when trimming nails.
NOOOOOOOOOO~
Plus, she is now well-equipped to use the clipper to shave my backside and paws.
But the most important thing is... she can now order Daddy to do the same since he sat through the entire workshop with us!
#poordaddy #pleasedonottortureusdaddy #notourfaultthatmummytrickedyouintothis

A proud Mummy and her certification!
As much as I didn't enjoy being the model (Rawrrrrrr~), this was a pretty good introductory workshop for pet owners to head to. At least now I know that Mummy knows what she is doing when she is grooming me!
So, do check it out if you're keen!
