My birthday this year was a rather quiet affair.

We took the delicious cake to one of our favourite hang out and devoured it in seconds.

Actually, I think that Pippin is a bigger ass than me lor.

No, we didn't forget Shelly. 

Shelly is having a staycation with her breeder (because... she just had a litter of pups! We will share that in a bit).

So, Mummy specially ordered some pupcakes and delivered it to her breeder's place for the little girl to enjoy.

Mummy's note: It's bittersweet celebrating the birthday of this little rascal cos I get reminded that he's getting older. It's quite amazing to have watched Sam grow from a tiny 2 month old to this pudgy uncle. While it aches a tad seeing all the white streaks that are developing around his eyes, I am extremely proud of what an awesome dog he has grown up to be. This little ass has changed so much, from actually making friends with cats (okay, not all cats), not being so gung-ho in joining fights (he's learning to pick his battles, thankfully) and being pretty amazing at recall (okay, I know he cares for the treat he will get than the actual act of coming back to me). 

Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to my life. You are the reason I can't wait to get home each day (Sorry Mr Lim), and the reason I look forward to weekends (cos I wanna bring you and your sisters out).

Well, Mummy started a new job a few months back and the job does require her to work on weekends at times.

The many faces of Pippin Tree

We secretly think that Pippin has an ambition of becoming a model. 

Looking through all our photos, we noticed that Pips really does have 101 different facial expressions. 

So much more than us.

Pecan only has one (ie her super happy face), while I rotate between two different looks ('O$P$' face and 'YOU GOT FOOD?!" face).

The swimming Pips

It's been a while since we updated about Pippin monster's progress.

Here goes...

We know that our priority for Pips is to build up her muscles, especially since she spent a good part of her life being caged up. 

The best way to do so, is none other than... SWIMMING!

Trick or Treat?

Halloween is right around the corner and we're looking forward to our party!

In the meantime, Mummy's been cracking her brain on how to dress us up for the celebrations.

Going Raw Rawr

We have been on a raw diet for the past few years.

While we started mainly on commercial raw food, Mummy made the transition towards DIY raw over the last couple of months.

For now, Mummy will purchase our proteins from the supermarket and that does restrict the types we eat. (We usually rotate between lamb, beef and chicken.)

But thanks to Howlistic Life, we get to have a taste of Venison at affordable prices!

Made with love (once again) - Dehydrated treats!

We got busy with Mummy's newest toy...

I turned SIX - my second celebration!

And my celebration continues.

This time, with the second most important *cough* lady *cough* in my life.

For starters, we turned up for my party dressed to the nines in our new Crew La La collars.

Mummy is damn ridiculous la. 

When she was shopping for the collars, she was worried that the bows would get lost in our shaggy coats. Hence she decided to opt for the bigger design.

Mummy was introduced to Fiverr by a friend who's owns a startup and was looking for affordable design options.

It's actually a website that offers services and tasks with a starting price of just USD5!

And boy oh boy, Mummy was hooked instantly. 

Mummy's addiction to illustrations isn't something new.

But honestly, most illustrations do not come cheap. 

It's no wonder Mummy was over the moon when she saw what Fiverr had to offer.

Pet-friendly: Everything with Fries

If you're a long time reader cum fan of *ahem* yours truly, you would've noticed that since Pecan ah ma joined our family we have ceased our pet-friendly cafe outings.

It is because Pecan has a bit of a barrier frustration. 

Which means she has the tendency to react by barking and lunging when she is unable to interact with the object of interest (be it another dog or human). This happens especially when she is on leash.

Hence, alfresco dining where dogs will be tied to the table (as opposed to a pet cafe where we will be off-leashed) ain't exactly suitable for dogs like her.

We've been working on her barrier frustration and are really pleased with her progress.

Despite that, Mummy is still rather hesitant to bring us to pet-friendly cafes...

That was until they walked passed... Everything with Fries at Holland Village.

Daddy is a sucker for fries and the dessert menu caught sweet-toothed Mummy's eyes. 

Our parents just had to stop and give it a shot.

Since this was totally impromptu, Mummy had to resort to using her iPhone for photo-taking.

Thankfully, it didn't turn out too bad!

We managed to beat the crowd and were given a nice outdoor table.

The layout is really open and welcoming!

The menu is also very interesting and as its name suggest, all mains were served with fries.

As this wasn't planned in advance, Mummy didn't come prepared. 

(She would usually pack our water bottle, a bowl and tons and tons of treats.)

As a result, she ended up having to request for water for us.

The awesome waitstaff actually improvised and used a takeout box for us.

Needless to say, Mummy was quite impressed.

So were we.

The food looked really delicious and we didn't have to wait long.

(Mussels and fries, Ma Ling Luncheon Chips, Miso Baked King Salmon, Mega Milo Dinosaur, Lemon Soda)

To be honest, our parents found the food a tad salty.

But the dessert was to die for.

I swore Mummy was grinning ear to ear after having the Chilled Pandan Souffle.

And we were pretty hopeful that we would be rewarded with yummy bites for putting on our best behaviour.

Of course that didn't happen.

Mummy managed to handle Pecan's frustration by tucking her under the table away for the passing crowd.

Hence, ah ma didn't even realise when dogs stroll by.

On top of that, we did stop by Pets' Station prior to dinner to stock up on some treats to keep us busy and happy.

Service was quick and efficient and our terrible parents we finished dinner in less than an hour.

With the success of this dinner, I'm confident that Mummy will be getting more adventurous in the near future.

Dog-friendly Smoothie

We're dying from the heat.

Our dog-friendly Mango-Strawberry Smoothie!

Here's what we need:

One whole mango (cut into cubes and toss the pit away)

A box of strawberry (Freeze it overnight to make the smoothie ice-cold when served)

A cup of plain yoghurt

One teaspoon of honey (optional, especially if your mango isn't ripe enough)

Did you know?

Mangoes are actually good for dogs (source)!

But be careful to keep the pit away from us and feed in moderation.

Simply toss everything into a blender and blend blend BLEND.

The Honest Kitchen Treats

So our fish craving is back and we just couldn't resist checking our Fuzzyard pet fish, Sushi, out.

Anyway, my shitty fate aside, Mummy actually got us yummy The Honest Kitchen fish treats! 

Besides the fact that they are made using all-natural ingredients (in fact, they are single ingredient treats), they are free of artificial additives, flavour enhances and colouring.

Most importantly, they are also low in calories.

Woof-A-Thon on 12 April 2015!

We're very honoured to be invited to participate in Woof-a-thon, the first pet walkathon organised by Singapore Heart Foundation!

When: Sunday, 12 April 2015

Time: 4pm to 7pm

Where: Bishan Park, Grand Lawn 1 (Opposite Dog Run Area)

We all know exercising is great for our health. So why not make it fun by doing it with our pets.

This is exactly what this event is about!

Woof-a-thon aims to advocate the cardiovascular benefits associated with walking, a low-impact physical activity which pet owners are more inclined to partake.

We got Mail - from Chewtime!

It's not everyday that something interesting comes through the mailbox.

It's usually bills after bills or flyers after flyers of property that my parents cannot afford.

Oh, and of course the occasional summons (hehehehehe...).

But today, there was special something. 

There was a postage for.... me and Pecan ah ma!

We did a quick sniff test to decipher the package.

But one thing is for sure. 

It contained something edible!

As for Pecan ah ma, she was a little unsure what it was.

Staying focused.

Once Mummy handed them to us, I immediately took it to my mat and started gnawing on it.

Ah ma, on the other hand, didn't really know what to do with it and started trotting around the house, unsure of what to do with it. 

After a good ten minutes of confusion, she finally set down and started chewing on it.

Sadly, she gave up just after a few minutes.

Turned out it was a tad tough for her weak jaws.

So evil Mummy did something horrible.

She came up to the very contented me (who was being an extremely good boy by sitting on my rug and minding my own chew), stole my half-eaten masterpiece and gave it to Pecan ah ma.

Needless to say, I wasn't pleased at all.

All in all, we really enjoyed it and we gave Mummy a good half hour of peace by keeping ourselves occupied with it!
