Throwback to ... Pippin's birthday!

On 25th July 2017, we celebrated Pippin's 4th birthday!
We brought Pips home in January and of course, while we will always remember her gotcha day, we also wanted to give her a 'birthdate'.
My birthday falls in January and Pecan's one is in September. To spread out the celebrations, we decided that Pippin's birthday will be on 25th July!
#excusesla #shejustwantsareasontobuymorecakes #reallyrandomdate

Mummy ordered her cake from one of our favourite ladies, Dionne, and barkery - Barking Good.
#wewantedtosayauntiebutwescaredshescold
So, we hopped over to their new store front to collect the cake!
#happyfaces
Mummy was contemplating doing a quick shoot there of us posing with the lovely cake, but decided to not risk it after all.

Our Pawprint Keepsake-s

Throwback to the days when I was the only child (gosh, I miss them so~), Mummy made me an adorable pawprint keepsake.
And when Pecan came along, Mummy made a mental note to make one for her too.
A pawprint keepsake for Pecan ah ma was seriously long overdue.
#fouryearsliaonowthando #queenofprocrastinatingwindeed
So when Mummy came across this Scupley kit at Art Friend (Plaza Singapore) a couple of months ago, she decided to finally get it done.

DIY TIME: Pill Pockets

I came down with a small bout of infection on my front paws. (No thanks to my itchy mouth)

A quick visit to the worst place on Earth vet and here we are, a grumpy-emo dog who is pouting about the meds he has to eat and a gloating ah ma.

Happy 12th Birthday Ah ma!

September 14 2015 was a special day.
It was the day that the ancient one (aka Pecan ah ma) turned TWELVE.
#omg #whatahugenumber #icanonlycounttoten
As usual, birthdays in the Loo Lim Household are a big thing. Well, kinda, only if you're the beloved furkids. The parents get zilch celebration.

So, it was party mood all week!
Woohoo~

Dog-friendly Smoothie

We're dying from the heat.
#whysohot #twodeaddogslyingonthefloor
After seeing how lethargic we are, she decided to whip up some smoothie!
#mummyisdabest #weapprove #tonguesofapproval

Our dog-friendly Mango-Strawberry Smoothie!
Here's what we need:
One whole mango (cut into cubes and toss the pit away)
A box of strawberry (Freeze it overnight to make the smoothie ice-cold when served)
A cup of plain yoghurt
One teaspoon of honey (optional, especially if your mango isn't ripe enough)
Did you know?
Mangoes are actually good for dogs (source)!
But be careful to keep the pit away from us and feed in moderation.
#yummyfoodthatisdogfriendlyisdabest

What to do:
Simply toss everything into a blender and blend blend BLEND.
#easybreezy
Giving the sniff test.
#pecandoesnotcare #shejustwantstodrink #samthefaketastetester
Off we went!
Yumz!
#mustlickeverysingledrop #pecanapprove
We absolutely love it.
And unfortunately, so does Mummy
#ourmotherstealourfoodagain #ourlifesucks
Oh well, at least it did wonders to cool us down in the nasty heat.
Hope it does the same for you too!

The Honest Kitchen Treats

So our fish craving is back and we just couldn't resist checking our Fuzzyard pet fish, Sushi, out.
Not in a good way in case you're wondering.
#nowondermummynowanttogetusapethamster #nopetissafeinthishousehold
Of course, Sushi was pretty much sweating it out.
#hownottopanicwhenyouhavetwohungrydogsstaringatyou
And as usual, our dearest Mummy came to his (and our tummies') rescue by announcing that she has delectable fish treats for us.
Wheeeeeeeeeee....
#mummyisdabest
Okay la, we shall leave you alone Sushi....for now.
HEHEHEHEEHHEEH
What she didn't mention, however, was that I had to put on the hideous fish head for the shoot.
Like wt....
#grumpysam #mylifesucks #itsnotthatthetreatsnonice #itsjustthatmymothersucks #mummyisdaworst
#allpissyfacepost
Anyway, my shitty fate aside, Mummy actually got us yummy The Honest Kitchen fish treats!
Besides the fact that they are made using all-natural ingredients (in fact, they are single ingredient treats), they are free of artificial additives, flavour enhances and colouring.
Most importantly, they are also low in calories.
#sammytummytotallyapprove
These treats are definitely a great choice for pets with sensitive stomach or food allergies and of course, pudgy little pooches.

DISCLAIMER: MY PISSY EXPRESSION IS NOT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE THE TREATS (IN FACT, I'M A HUGE FAN). I WAS PROTESTING AGAINST MUMMY.

First on the list (into our little tummies) is...
Mummy loves that these enticing treats are bite-sized and perfect for training.
Plus, it's handy and eco-friendly tube packaging makes it easy for owners on the go!
Mummy even took a bite and could actually taste the fish in it!
In fact, she quite liked it. She would have continue eating if we didn't stop her!
#cheapomummytakeourtreats #howcanlikethat #eatyourownfoodcan #dontstealours #pissysam

Next on the list...
These large, dehydrated fish fillets are made with 100% wild caught haddock, a clean white fish that is naturally very low in fat.
So, yap, these yummy crunchy chews make a healthy addition to our diets.
#whosayseatinghealthyisyucky #tastesogoodcan
Best of all, it's soft enough for the bogay ah ma and can be easily snapped into smaller pieces.
#pecanapproved #toothlessfriendly
Oh oh oh, and it's good for both cats and dogs!

After Mummy had a good laugh at my pissy expression (for way too long), she decided to give me a break and put the fish head on Pecan ah ma.
#likefinallycan
Even though ah ma didn't seem to mind at all, I decided to go on a strike and refused to cooperate anymore.
#servesyourightlor #whocallyoubullyme
Pecan's one woman show.
#someoneeatingsnakebehind #skivingsam

Last but not least,
These dehydrated treats are made from pure wild-caught Icelandic Catfish skin!
#soundsoatascan
Not only is it an excellent source of lean protein (which is lower in fat), it is a good source of Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids!
We absolutely love this savoury chew stick!
And yap, it wasn't too hard for Pecan either.
However, Mummy isn't very fond of the smell that lingered on our little beards after we devoured the treat.
But again, who cares.

Barking Good: Pee-Can-Bites

Anyway, some of you may know that our dearest Pecan ah ma went for a dental scaling recently.
We knew that Pecan ah ma's scaling was due. But Mummy was rather hesitant as she really did not want to put Pecan under anaesthesia if possible.
However, after consulting with as many as four different vets, Mummy got the consensus that the procedure was a necessity.
Oh well~
So in ah ma went. (And out went $1.2k from Daddy's pocket!)

Pecan isn't the most cooperative pooch at the vet (she's a pain like me!).
#likebrotherlikesister #cannotletthevetbullyuslor
So during the initial consultation, Mummy was told that at least three teeth needed to be extracted.
There might be more, just that the vet couldn't tell as of then.
But what Mummy didn't expect was that these many teeth had to go....
YAP, they all belonged to Pecan.
#toothfairyisgonnabebroke
In case you're wondering how many came out....
Mummy wanted to keep them, so the vet obliged and packed it for us.
#weirdsouvenirs #cankeepiscankeepjustnotonpecan

While Pecan's bad breath is finally something of the past after the extraction, she is officially toothless.
#bogayahma #twopawscancounthowmanyteethshehasleftlor
It's about time someone seriously invented doggy dentures lor.
And ah ma will look like this.

Okay... on second thoughts... bad idea.
She looks.... retarded.
WAHAHAHHAHAHAHA...
#cheapthrill

Jokes aside, it was really very heartbreaking for Mummy to see Pecan with so few teeth.
Many of the treats that she used to adore were starting to be a chore for her to eat.
And we could see her frustration as she laid on the floor staring at them.
#guesswhogotthetreatsintheend #menocomplain
So, Mummy went ahead and contacted Auntie Dionne from Barking Good for a special request - toothless friendly treats just for the bogay ah ma.

And after a few email discussions and a couple of weeks, viola~
Mummy came home with these!
Introducing, Pee-can bite...
so can you!
#howcornycanmummyget #cmi #facepalm
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS SO NOT THE OFFICIAL NAME OF THIS TREAT. IT IS JUST MUMMY BEING SILLY. Auntie Dionne has yet to name them.
Pecan: "Is it just for me?"
Sam: "Say what?! How about me"
Auntie Dionne is an absolute sweetheart. She specifically asked Mummy for a list of meats that Pecan ah ma loves. (She so greedy, anything also eat lor)
With that, she went on to bake these out-of-the-world bites just for Pecan.
#lifenofair #inottoothlesscaneathor
Not only do we know what ingredients went into creating this yummy bites, there is absolutely no preservatives or additives present.
As a result, these treats have a rather limited shelf life (up to a week).
But seriously, that is hardly a problem lor.
#ourlittletummieswillneversaynotothem
We also love love LOVE that it comes in the shape of a paw!
How awesome is that!
If you're wondering how it taste....
Now you see it,
Now you don't.
#picturesspeakamillionwords

I was watching the entire process like a hawk cos to be honest, I wasn't sure if Mummy would offer me any. since these treats were specially created for Pecan.
But lucky for me, I got my fair share.
Wheeeeeeeeee....
Guess Ah ma becoming toothless isn't such a bad thing after all.

Thank you Auntie Dionne for making Pecan (and my not-so-little tummy) so happy!
More orders are coming your way~

If you've senior pooches like Pecan that can no longer chew on hard treats, why not give these bites a shot!
We're 101% sure they're gonna love it.
Of course, if they don't, please send them this way!

A Dear Deer Party!

We're extremely lucky that Auntie Pauline from Howlistic Life has very generously offered to sponsor our little tummies with food and treats!
#weneversaynotofood
YEAH!
After all, we have been long term fans of the many products that her company carries.
*wriggly dance*

When she sent some of the goodies over, we were over the moon and just had to whip out our party hats and CELEBRATE~~
woohoo~
YAP, WE'RE HAVING A DEAR DEER PARTY!
#seeingsomanytreatsmakeusuberhigh
We had always been fans of Dear Deer treats!
I mean...look at them!
How to say no?!
This was seriously how happy we looked all day while Mummy was busy styling the treats.
#happyuntilourmouthscannotclose
Here are some reasons why we are such huge fans.
#yapmummyiscrazyenoughtocreateaninfographicsforthis #shehastoomuchtimeonherhands
Here's what we got our paws on!
(and this isn't even the full range!)
Some tips:
If you have an aggressive chewer (or an annoying pooch that wouldn't leave you alone), we strongly recommend the deer ribs, kneecaps and sinew!
And yap, no kidding man. The Deer Kneecap is probably the only thing that can keep me busy for more than an hour!
It is that challenging.
But if you've a toothless senior (aka. bogay ah ma) or a pup that just isn't a fan of chewing, the jerky, heart, kidney, liver and nuggets are great options!
They can also be easily broken up to be used as training treats.
#wegogagaforthem #iwillrepeatmywholetricksrepertoirejusttogetonepiece #yapmylifeispathetic

I was seriously considering which to start first.
Of course, Pecan ah ma wanted all of them.
#lifedecisions
"Can we start now?"
#thisisnotaquestion
And judging from this...
Yap, our little tummies were more than satisfied.
#astuffeddogisahappydog

Hehe, so make your pups happy by giving them a Dear Deer treat today!!!!
And if you've extras to spare (which we highly doubt so), please send it this way!

Made with Love: Pumpkin-pork treats

After watching episode after episode of Cupcake Wars (yap, she indulges in trashy shows), Mummy developed an itch for baking.
So, naturally, that means more home made goodies for us!
Wheeeeee~
#godblesstrashyrealitytv

Introducing our very own Dog-friendly Pumpkin Pork Cookies!
And trust us, it is outta the world!
#lickspawsinsatisfaction
What you need:
This makes about 80 cookies!
(Yap, Mummy's trying to kill us with cookies. But hey, we ain't complaining.)
3 cups of wheat flour (replace this with a grain-free flour if your dog is prone to allergies)
1 egg
300g of lean pork
One half of a pumpkin
2 tablespoons of parsley
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
Do keep some water and excess flour on hand too.
And we shall not forget the most important tool of the day - dog-shaped cookie cutters from Muji!
What to do:
1. Preheat oven to 175 Degree Celsius.
2. Cut both the pumpkin and lean pork meat into slices and boil till soft and cooked.
3. Blend the mixture into puree form.
4. Pour the puree, flour, egg, parsley and coconut oil into a mixture and combine until a dough comes together. (Add water if the dough is too loose and add more flour is its too sticky.)
5. Transfer the dough onto a clean surface and roll it to a 1/4 inch thickness.
6. Use a cutter to cut out the cookies.
7. Brush some coconut oil on the dough to help with the baking.
8. Stick the tray into the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
9.Allow the cookies to cool to room temperature before offering one to your pooch!
Don't forget to keep the remaining cookies in an air-tight container in the fridge! (They can last about two weeks)
#notinourhouseholdthough
To ensure that the cookies bake and cool thoroughly, Mummy kept the tray overnight in the oven.
And that was one torturous process.
We were pretty tempted to camp in our sleeping beds in front of the oven, but we caved in to the temptation of the air-conditioner.
Oh well...
#damntheweather
As you can see, Mummy isn't that awesome a baker (yet).
But one thing we can be sure of, it definitely tasted better than it looked!
#don'tjudgeacookiebyitsappearance #mytummydoesnotcarehowitlooks
Needless to say, our favourite shape had to be this:
To be honest, I was a little concerned about eating them.
I mean, I felt kinda bad that I will be eating my own kind!
#lifestruggles #foodvsloyalty
Of course, Pecan ah ma didn't give a hoot.
Seeing her gobble cookie after cookie, I quickly decided to hop on the band wagon as well.
#buaytahanliao #cannotloseoutma
And all I can say is..
I never looked back.
PS: Thanks God Daddy for lending a hand in the baking. Else we can only imagine what a disaster it would be!
