Made with Love - Desserts!

Mummy brought home some leftover dog-friendly food from a work shoot today.
And with some tips from Auntie Gwen, Mummy decided to spice it up for us!
Using just some greek yoghurt, Mummy turned the leftovers into a yummy Greek Yoghurt Sweet potato, apple dessert, with cranberry toppings.
Looking good!
As usual, I wasn't too pleased with the long photo-taking.
#attitudesam
And boy, it sure was delicious!
This is the best kind of food. Not only does it taste yummy, it is actually healthy! Yoghurt is actually good for our little tummies while cranberries are beneficial for our urinary tracts.
#winwinsituation #
We were rather disappointed after licking our bowls sparkling clean to learn that Mummy wasn't gonna give us second helpings.
WHY~~~~
And even our best begging faces failed to work their magic.
On a good note, Mummy did cut up the leftovers of the leftovers, place them into several ice cube trays, pour yoghurt to fill them up and send them to freeze in the freezer.
For a rainy day she says.

Oh well, good things are worth the wait.
"Mummy, we're watching you."

Belly up...erm.. we mean cheer up!

Mummy was having a shitty day at work.
So, ah ma and I had a quick chat to see how to cheer her up.
After some serious discussion...
we decided... to offer Mummy a chance to give us a belly rub!

I mean..why not?
Cheering up with two bellies up.
#samthelousypoet
Of course, Mummy wasn't too impressed but proceeded to give us two  pathetic  perfunctory scratches each before walking away.
Oi. How can so rude. We give u a chance to feel better and all you did was give us a lousy rub.
#goodheartnogoodreturns #pui
But oh well, we're pretty sure we saw a quick smile anyway.

Do Re Mi....

Introducing...
Loo Lim Number 3, Bella!
And so you think..
#yougotpunked #iamNOTsharingmyspacewithyetanotheroldlady

We came across this adorable sweetheart when we popped by the Howlistic Life showroom to stock up on our Dear Deer kneecaps.
Little Bella belongs to Auntie Pauline (the owner) and like us, is a Rough Coat JRT!

And boy, was Mummy captivated.
Firstly, cutie Bella looks just like a combination of me and Pecan ah ma - she has my face and Pecan's body!
#iamstillthecutest
And secondly, her temperament is amazing.
Although she is 11 years old (the same age of ah ma), she is calm and chill. Nothing like the crazy old granny we have at home.
It's no wonder Mummy was falling in love with her and kept offering to take her home. Of course, she had her 'Crazy Dog lady' face and voice on....
-_-
Hello~~ we are still here yo~
#Mummycheatedonusrightinfrontofus

She really does look like ah ma! And for a moment, Mummy thought that she actually found Pecan's long lost sibling (since they are of the same age) and was really disappointed to learn that they were born in different months.
Bella is a January baby and Ah Ma September.

But again, who could resist these three cuties staring at you?
Now, we totally can understand why Mummy had the urge to grab Bella and run.
#mummyhasdognappingtendencies
See the resemblance in our sulky faces!
DO RE MI...
Hehehehehe... I am still the tallest!
#irepeatiamstillthecutest
Bella hardly smiled as she was more concerned about Auntie Pauline who stepped out to grab more Dear Deer for us (Mummy actually bought TEN packets of kneecap).
We decided to join her to keep a lookout for her owner.
#welookalikeevenfromtheback
Too bad for Mummy (and heng for me and Daddy), Auntie Pauline adores Bella and has zero intentions to let her go.
So, nope. Bella is not up for adoption and nope, Mummy isn't bringing her home.
But seeing how well we behaved, Auntie Pauline extended an open invite for us to drop by anytime to play with Bella.
Accepted!

On a side note, besides doing great in the presence of Bella, Pecan ah ma actually made friends with all the other resident dogs there too.
#ahmaisbecomingasocialite
Can you spot them in the background??
Hint: There are FOUR!

Cozy up

Pecan ah ma loves to cuddle with me.
But, to be honest, I'm not exactly on board with her on that.
#Iamnotintooldladies
I mean... the weather is already so warm, I really don't need another body warmer sticking to me.
And, her breath is just....
#menowantasmellyoldladywholovestodroolonme
So, we came up with a brilliant plan - A Sam-inspired pillow!
Now ah ma can lie all she wants on 'me' and I don't have to worry about overheating or stinky drool.
#winwinsituation #shejustslappedthepillowmewithherpaw
And no doubt, ah ma is loving it!
So am I!

Pecan's first Dog Event - National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop

After seeing Pecan ah ma's success during our recent JRT hike, our parents decided to take yet another leap of faith.
They... *drum rolls*...brought ah ma to her very first dog event - The National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop - that took place over the weekend at Big Splash!
And yap, ah ma did amazing once again!
She did not snap at a single dog and even proceeded to greet many of them!
Of course, our parents were still on high alert and made an effort to distract her when her posture got too tense and her tail started wagging a tad bit hard. She responded every single time!
Kudos old lady!

Ah ma was in such high spirits that she couldn't stop grinning throughout the event.
And I'm sure she was equally pleased to be enjoying a nice day out with many other canines!
There weren't as many commercial booths as Mummy would like and so we spent most of our time wandering around and meeting fellow doggie instagrammers! (Hi Donna! Hi Kanon! Hi Teamerriestjam)
Since we weren't here to adopt yet another sibling (I swear Daddy will kill Mummy if she did that), we decided to keep ourselves busy with the agility course laid out.
Easy breezy for me.
#Iamanaturalathlete
It was ah ma's first attempt on the tunnel and she was a little hesitant in the beginning.
But when there are treats involved, Pecan would do anything. Like ANYTHING.
And within seconds of Daddy tossing a large piece of treat inside the tunnel.... in she went, ate it..and out she came.
#ahmamaybeoldbutsheisstillquiteagile
I was excited cheering her on!
(The truth was... Daddy had to hold me back to prevent me for charging for the treat. -_-)
#stupiddaddyalwaysfoilsmyplans
Once ah ma was out, I had my turn!
After we got bored of trying out the trial, we headed to the area of the adoption drive and something caught our eyes.
YES... THERE WAS A DOGGIE POOL!
#wewanttoswim #weWANTtoswim
We couldn't take our eyes of it.
Even though we just got groomed the day before, our awesome Mummy couldn't care less and allowed us to do what we loved to do!
Wheeeeeeeeee.....
As Mummy wasn't expecting there to be a pool for dogs to take a dip and cool off, she certainly didn't come prepared. So, there was no monkey and no monster for us to rescue.
#lifeismeaninglesswithoutadrowningmonkey
We quickly got bored of the aimless paddle and wanted out after we cooled down.
Nonetheless, we were happy to be able to dip our paws and get soaked in cool water.
Since Mummy also didn't prepare towels, we decided to take a stroll along the beach to dry off.
I sat around a bit and enjoyed the lovely sea breeze (and the BBQ aromas)!
Pecan was equally happy!
Oh oh... on a side note, when we got groomed the day before, Mummy had requested for Auntie Lulu to keep our ear hairs long. And when we got home, we suddenly realized that ah ma's ear hairs are of different lengths! We initially thought that Auntie Lulu had snipped one side off. But after careful observation (and comparison with old photos), we discovered that ah ma has been donning an asymmetrical bob all these while!
#oldahmacanalsobestylishonehor #sooldstillactyoung
How *cough* cool *cough* is that!

Mummy was contemplating whether she should snip it off to make it even. But seeing how adorable Pecan looks now, she decided against it.
Needless to say, ah ma's current nickname is "Asymmetrical Bob"!
#wheregotnicknamesolongone #myparentshavenocreativity
Anyway, it was a great day out! Not only was it haze-free, the weather was cool and comfortable!
And although we didn't take much photos (cos Mummy was concentrating on ah ma), we had lotsa fun!
Now that Pecan is certified dog event-friendly, I can foresee more fun outings coming up soon!

Playing dead...

I have a tendency to play dead when I play with other dogs.
It's not that I am submissive.
I just get a kick tricking other dogs...
Normally after I refuse to move for a while, dogs will get confused and move away.
Pecan always gets so worried that she will walk towards Mummy with an ultra guilty look.
#stupidahma #Iwheregotsoeasykillone
Only after Mummy's (repeated) explanation that I am not dead, will she come back beside me.
The best part is... this is how we've been playing for the past few months and she STILL doesn't get it!
#Iamnotdeadjustlazy #facepalm #ahmaissenile
Anyway, if you do play with me in future, this is pretty much what to expect!

The JRTS go hiking!

Mummy took an insane leap of faith and gamble and brought Pecan ah ma along for her very first Jack Russell Mania outing to the Green Corridor.
Yap, you didn't hear me wrong.
We actually brought the crazy smelly old lady to an outing with many other dogs.
Not just other dogs, but fellow Jack Russells!
It's like crazy meet crazy.

Of course, there were initial doubts if it was too much for her to handle.
But after some consideration, our parents decided to take the plunge and went right for it.
Well, there was always Plan B if it didn't work out - go back home.
(Shhh, lazy Daddy was secretly rooting for that lor)
#mydaddysucks

And guess what, Ah ma did beautifully.
In fact, she was perfect.
She walked and walked and walked, alongside many others.
I swear I saw tears in Mummy's eyes.
#yayayayaIexaggeratela
But nonetheless, Mummy was damn proud of Pecan.
So am I.

Getting ready for the hike!
We kept our distance in the beginning to ensure that ah ma had the space she required.
Let's go!
Marching on!
"Left, right, Left, right"
Once we started walking, Mummy gradually reduced the distance between ah ma and other dogs.
And it worked!
She actually managed to walk side-by-side other Jacks!
#unbelievable #Iamdreaming #thatisnotpecan
The most amazing moment had to be when Mummy actually let Pecan off-leash!
And yap, her recall was solid and she came back EVERY SINGLE TIME Mummy called.
#ahmawhyyouspoilmarket #treatdoeswonders
As for me, I was leashed all the time because my recall is non-existent (HEHEHEHEHEHE), plus Daddy sprained his ankle playing basketball a couple of days ago. Hence, he had no confidence that he would be able to outrun me.
Booo~
#daddystillthinkheyoungman
Oh well, I was quite contented hiding in the shaded areas anyway.
Guess i wasn't alone.
Although the group went the wrong way and ended up at Rail Mall instead of the Bukit Timah Train Station, the dogs had tons of fun.
And after a good two hours of hiking, there were plenty of tired and happy pooches.
Pecan ah ma and myself were two of them!
And you thought that the miracle ended here.
NO!
The group headed to a dog cafe after the hike to rest and we actually went along!
It's not that my parents had that much faith in ah ma. The truth was our parents were dying of thirst and needed a drink badly.
But Pecan did wonderfully in the cafe!!
#spoilmarketagain
She just minded her own business in her corner while arguments after arguments took place around her.
Hehehehehehe... I even got in the middle of one!
Mummy had to grab me by my scruff and leash me up for disturbing a dog.
HEHEHEHEHEHE
#IdonotstartfightsIjustlovegettinginvolvedinone #lastsamstanding #fightfightfight

Mummy was so pleased with ah ma that she couldn't stop showering her with treats when we finally got home.
Of course, I got my fair share too!
WELL DONE AH MA!

Mummy's note: I was so proud of my little old girl! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? You most certainly can. It just takes more time. But when you finally see the change, the feeling is simply AMAZING! I was grinning from ear to ear and I mean it. Even the nonchalant husband did too! When I saw ah ma trotting happily alongside with others, I came to realize that all the time, frustration and money we dumped and experienced over the past year were worth it. Thank you  Kristina (our trainer) for guiding us step by step through this journey and thank you to Pecan's (few) friends who gave her the opportunity to start small.
That being said, we will still be picking our battles and will bring ah ma to gatherings that we're confident that she can mange.
