Our Pawprint Keepsake-s

Throwback to the days when I was the only child (gosh, I miss them so~), Mummy made me an adorable pawprint keepsake.
And when Pecan came along, Mummy made a mental note to make one for her too.
A pawprint keepsake for Pecan ah ma was seriously long overdue.

So when Mummy came across this Scupley kit at Art Friend (Plaza Singapore) a couple of months ago, she decided to finally get it done.

The kit she bought for me was specifically for pets.
However, only the baby impression kit was available.

We came to realise that both kits are actually identifcal, except for the packaging.
Each came with a bar of clay dough, a roller, a circular rim (to create the shape of the keepsake) and a string of ribbon to hang.
To save some $$, Mummy decided to buy an extra slab of clay for Pippin monster.
Afterall, the additional slab cost only half the price of the entire kit.

Pecan's hollywood moment.

Her *cough* sexy hairy leg.
The clay was really soft, making it a bit of a challenge to shape and remove from the rim.
On the other hand, it made it extremely easy for Pecan to leave her pawprint.
And on the other hand, Cheapo Mummy's plan kinda backfired on her.
The additional slab was extremely stiff, making it really hard to imprint Pips' pawprint on it.
Pippin's dreaming that she was at Hollywood Boulevard already.

Not only was the clay of a stiffer texture, it was an off-white colour.

Oh well, I guess it kinda worked out since Pippin was kinda yellowish/brownish when she first came.

Anyway, we sent the pawprints to bake for a good 30 minutes!
Our very own pawprint keepsakes!
My pawprint was personalised using a stencil.
Despite turning the house upside down, Mummy couldn't find the exact stencil.
So she turned to ... Photoshop.

Putting them side by side makes it really obvious how brownish Pips' pawprint is.

And up the pawprints went.
To make it uniform, Mummy also replaced my red ribbon with brown string.

Now we only have to wait and see how long it takes Mummy to find the stencil and print Pips and Pecan's name.
