My Yummy Dinners

I am a really fussy eater. Since the blog post about my eating habits about a year ago, my diet has been changed numerous time. This time, I think mummy finally got it right. I've been eating this for the past 3 months and I'm certainly not complaining.

Mummy prepares my dinner with love! She actually cooks a different protein (usually rotating between chicken breast meat and beef), tons of vegetables (carrots, corn and peas) and a stock to add a little taste. Occasionally I get a special ingredient depending on what she finds in the refrigerator that is dog-friendly. She then mixes them with my favorite dry food - Taste of the wild

And ta-dah~ My very own gourmet dinner.

Hee, I love listening to how Daddy grumbles that mummy rather cooks for me than for him. (Now you know where Daddy stands in the family. *Gloats*

To make things easier, mummy cooks several portions each time. She then freezes the extras in individual zip loc bags and microwave a portion per day. After a while, we both agreed that this was not the most environmental friendly method around. Thus, to reduce my little carbon pawprints on earth, mummy invested in a set of Juvenile Solutions Baby Cubes to store the individual portions.

She chose the 2 ounces cube that comes with 8 little containers that are dishwasher and microwave friendly.

Time to distribute the individual portions.
Today's secret ingredient is... Crabstick.
Yum yum.

Mummy's pretty good at estimating the portions and managed to pack the portions neatly into the little containers.

The best part of the cubes is that mummy can now save the delicious stock for me to savor. (Something that we couldn't quite do with the zip loc bags.)

After which, in to the freezer it goes. When it's dinner time, one cube goes into the microwave for 30 seconds and wala~ it's ready to be served.

It's really as simple as ABC.

And yap, that makes me a very happy boy.

I'm already waiting for my next dinner!

The scorching sun!

I have a love-hate relationship with the sun.

While I understand that when the weather is nice, mummy would be more motivated to bring me out, I really REALLY dislike the sun and the heat. It just feels like my paws are burning each time I lay foot on the ground and I swear I could feel my fur melting. Ouch~

Mummy pretty much had to drag me throughout the walk and I was just doing my best to hide from the sun.

And yes, I was refusing to walk and mummy was contemplating leaving me behind.

Sigh, I could only imagine how ugly my tan line is going to be. -_-

In the end, I won (I always do). Mummy ended up carrying me back home.

It's (almost) summer...

The weather in NYC has been AMAZING for the past two days. And whenever the weather is good, mummy would drag my little arse out of the house to my favorite place on earth - yap, Central Park it is.

And yes, I'm a happy little man!

Mummy told me a funny little joke that made me chuckle.

Yap, That's life - spending a wonderful afternoon at my favorite place with my favorite person.

I'm loving it!

Now you see me, now you don't..

Now you see me...

Now you don't...

Okay, I was just fooling with mummy. And guess what, I got her! She jumped when she looked behind her shoulder (she was using her computer on the couch) and saw me sitting in the dark.

Ho ho ho

*Happy gloat*

My week @ the corporate apartment

As our actual apartment flooded, we were relocated to a corporate apartment in the building across the road while they fixed the floors. I was so excited about the apartment and fell in love with it immediately. Hee, as what my mummy would say, I was pretty much everywhere in the apartment. Well, that was my way of claiming what belongs to me. Anyway, here's a quick walk-through of what I loved about the apartment.

One of my favorite things about this apartment was that it was on the 4th floor, giving me an excellent street view. I could hear and see my dog friends on their walks. Occasionally, I would bark back to confuse them. I absolutely love how frantic they were when they tried looking for me. Hee.

The living room wasn't as large as our actual apartment but the fabric couch was amazing! I would roll on, sleep on it and scratch my little paws all day long. Well, mummy on the other hand wasn't exactly fond of it. After all, she was the one who spent an hour using masking tape to remove my fur. *Evil grin*

It was a huge bonus that the couch was located so near the dining set. Here's my favorite position when my parents are dining at the table. This way I was at eye level and there was no way they could pretend to not see me when I beg for scraps.

The arm rest on the couch was great for me to practice my 'cat moves'.

Here's the real reason why I adore the corporate apartment - the rug and carpet! The bedrooms were carpeted and there was this lovely rug in the living room. And yes, being the good boy I always am (*Smug look*), I did not have a single accident on the rug/carpet. Hopefully, I was able to convince my parents that they should buy some rugs for their sty.

The bedrooms weren't as spacious as well and could only fit a twin bed. Still, it was a gorgeous and comfortable bed!!!

Honestly, I kinda preferred the little side table. That would give me a better view of the apartment and the street below.

Sigh, it was such a bum when our actual apartment was ready and we had to moved back. No more rugs and carpets. Oh well, I'll make do.

Boo.

Ten Little Facts about Sammy - Number 6!

I have A LOT of sleeping spots.

Being the only child/dog in the household, I'm entitled to be spoilt. And spoilt I am indeed. To make sure that I'm comfortable at home, Mummy bought me a couple too many 'beds'. (No, I'm not kidding.) I shall introduce them to you one by one.

Spot #1 - My little Petmate Kennel Cab crate.

This was the very first bed I owned. In fact, this is the crate that my parents picked me up in the very day they brought me home.  This is also the crate that I was confined to during the first year of my life (I was crate-trained). Sounds awful? Not exactly. This is Sammy's little haven and I would retreat into it whenever I'm afraid (esp when mummy takes out the harness).

Though I have grown a fair bit, this crate still fits me comfortably and goes with us whenever we travel. It sits right beside mummy's sleeping spot by the bed, makes me feel safe and contented every time I'm in it.

It's a good place for hide and seek too!

Just a piece of warming, this crate isn't the most hygienic of places. My little paws (4 paws x 5 digits) would probably not be enough to count the number of 'accidents' I had in it. (You get my point..)

Spot #2 - My Pet Duvet Bed

There's a silly story behind this duvet bed - it's a bed within a bed. When mummy ordered it on amazon, she was expecting a nice green bed to arrive. When it did arrive, it turned out that silly mummy only ordered the bed duvet cover. She had to purchase another bed to stuff into the duvet. Hence, making it a bed within a bed!

This lovely duvet bed is in my parents' bedroom by the window, giving me the best spot in the house! I could stare out of it while mummy is working on the computer. It's such a great place to chill.

PS: I'm considered a small size dog, but mummy actually bought me a large size bed. It worked out perfect as I could stretch my whole body out. My favorite position though is called the 'chicken thigh' position. Mummy insists that my hind legs on these photos look like chicken thighs. -_-

Chill-laxing.
Yap, that's a dog's life.

Spot #3 - My Little Bone Rug

Mummy bought this rug for me from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It is a Microdry Ultimate Luxury Memory Foam Pet Mat  and it's seriously comfortable. It's the best place for me to just lie and relax while my parents (mostly mummy) watch television. It fits me to a T and while I'm unable to stretch my hind legs in full, my 'chicken thigh' position is just ideal.

Mummy bought this from Meet the Breeds last year. She fell in love with the modern look of the bed and since it was going for 50% discount on the display piece, she just couldn't resist. Thankfully mummy got the medium size, making it even better.

 My VERY own real bed.

What else could I ask for?

Spot #5 - My make-shift pillows

These pair of Kajsa Trad Ikea Cushion Pillows were meant to serve as 'headboards' for my parents bed. But since they were pretty much just collecting dust, mummy decided to contribute them to me. (YEAH) The two pillows are strategically placed, allowing me have a view of the circle line, hudson river and 11th avenue. Certainly the ideal place to keep me occupied on a lazy afternoon.

Spot #6 - My Petmate Vari Kennel Ultra Fashion Crate

Yes, it's another crate. And no, it's not because Mummy has too much money to burn. This crate has a very important purpose - it is my seat back to Singapore. As some of you might know, my parents are moving back to their homeland at the end of the year. OF COURSE I'm going with them! To make sure that I'm comfortable for the long-long-long-long flight, mummy has carefully measured and selected the best crate for me. (This is actually a medium size.) She bought it way advance to get me accustomed to it.

She also thoughtfully stuffed a Rens ikea carpet (a gift from one of our friends) to make it more comfortable.

So far so good. I'm not a huge fan of it, yet, and still prefers my trusty old crate to this. But at least I'm getting used to it.

It helps that it faces the television too.

That sure does summarises it - my sleeping spots!

Spring time..

Spring is my favorite season. While I'm a huge fan of the snow, the wicked cold is sometimes a little too unbearable. And mummy putting on a fleece jacket on me just makes it even worse.

Anyway, with Spring comes nice long walks to Central Park, possibly my favorite place on earth. Tons of green, squirrels and people who adore me.
What more could I ask for?

Here's one Sammy's little best-kept secret: Mummy and I found a nice little spot in Central Park called the Ramble. It's pretty much a wild garden and gives a sense of hiking in the woods. While dogs are not allowed off leash in that particular area, it doesn't affect me a bit, since I'm horrid off leash anyway (yeah yeah, off I go) and mummy uses a retractable leash that gives me 5ft tons of freedom. The best part of the ramble is this little stream of water that runs through it. I love getting my little paws muddy wet there (certainly cools me down when it gets a tad bit warm).

A very happy me in the stream.

I swear I saw a squirrel run by!

A happy dog on a lovely spring day!

Check out my wet little paws!

Unfortunately for me, the not so far part always come when we get home - a bath for the dirty little dog. =(

Certainly one of the best place on earth. If this isn't heaven, I don't know what is!

Sam's (dog) family history

It has been two years (and 3 days) since I entered my (human) mummy & daddy's life, and I'm loving every moment of it. I know mummy is too, but I can't really say the same for daddy. Anyway, here's a little  background information about my dog family (kinda of a updated version of my fact #1)

(FYI: Mummy got me from a breeder, MeadowBrook Terriers. That also explains the source of these beautiful photos!)

Introducing my dog mummy - Fionnula. I think I'm a splitting image of her.

This is my dashing dog daddy - Guiness. While I don't think we look alike, I think I did inherit his suaveness.

Here's me when I was just 4 weeks old.

 A close-up.

Me at 6 weeks.

Me at 8 weeks.
(Remember? This was the photo that sealed the deal, and my fate.)

And, here I am today! Maybe not as cute, but certainly a handsome little dude.
It has been a good two years since I became a Lim member. There's been ups and downs - days where I drive mummy nuts, days where I make mummy happy, days where I fell sick, days where I got abandoned and days where we reunite (with tons of treats for bribery of course).
I know mummy isn't a fan of my endless shedding, my insane energy spurs, my rebellious streaks but I also know that she wouldn't trade me for the world. And guess what, I wouldn't either, well... unless it's some hot supermodel who's freaking rich. Nay, just kidding.

Happy two anniversary to us!

Looking forward to the Many more anniversaries to come!

Sam, the chair model-er.

I am a chair model-er in training. Rather, I'm mummy's personalized chair (dog) model-er. As some of you might know, mummy has a unhealthy  , crazy, erm, decent obsession with chairs and have been on a chair shopping spree recently (Yesh, daddy isn't exactly too happy, but as usual, too bad for him). To document her purchases, she has requested that I model for her.

Hence, here are the end products.

Me on a Herman miller 1970's upholstered chair that mummy bought from our photographer (more information on that in a month or so).

 Me on Mummy's handmade ottoman.

Me on a vintage 1960s - 1970s wooden desk chair that Mummy bought on etsy.

Me on yet another herman miller 1970s upholstered chair mummy bought from a consignment store in Ohio.

I guess I am a natural talent. Hee, maybe this could really be a career for me. Hm, something for me to ponder about I guess..
